Its main purpose is to encourage the general population and non-healthcare professionals to wear face masks as an additional protective method, while simultaneously complying with all other health measures.
It also seeks to provide citizens with general information and to answer FAQs about face masks and their use.
A face mask constitutes a barrier which helps to minimise the direct transmission of infectious agents.The main function of the app is to activate a countdown timer.
Once the user selects the type of standardised face mask, a countdown timer will automatically appear that displays the time for which the mask can continue to be worn.
The timer can be paused during the periods in which the face mask is not being worn.
ChronoMask is not a health app, and neither does it provide medical advice.
We recommend adhering to the times established by the manufacturers.
The times can be changed in the app’s settings section.
The times provided are for non-continuous use.
In any case, continuous wearing for more than 4-8 hours (depending on the type of face mask) is not recommended.It has been proven that wearing the face mask incorrectly and wearing the same mask for longer than the maximum time established by the manufacturer can cause added health problems.The information is taken from data published by various entities, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare and the Spanish Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), amongst others.
The “Credits and Bibliography” section lists the sources that we have consulted, as well as additional information that supplements the information that appears in the app.
ChronoMask has compiled the information, seeking to bring together as much information as possible about face masks and their use.The project has the support of COIBA (Official College of Nursing of the Balearic Islands).Note:- The application is designed in such a way as to not breach the privacy of the user.
As such, when the user downloads the app, none of his/her details will be stored.- The app simply needs their permission in order to send them notifications.

Depending on the manufacturer, the face masks may have varying appearances, colours or shapes.- The time assigned to each face mask is indicative.
Wear for the amount of time recommended by the manufacturer.
You can adjust the time in the settings section.
- Remember to always wear face masks that are standardised and certified by their country of origin in order to guarantee their effectiveness against possible infections.- Face masks are only a supplementary protective measure.
